Abstract

|
Ankle foot orthosis (AFO) has been widely used in patients such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, brain tumor, spinal cord injury and cerebral palsy. AFO has positive effects for patients in facilitating toe clearance, promoting initial heel strike and providing mediolateral ankle stability. In addition, AFO can increase walking speed and cadence as well as decrease energy consumption while walking. Many previous studies have reported about the clinical effect of AFO. Therefore, in the current study, we attempted to review the clinical effectiveness of AFO.
